Rooms
The Baby Room at Jennyswell Nursery provides warmth, fun and security for children under 2 years old. The room allows staff to provide the appropriate activities for your child’s age group and developmental stage.
It
is important for children of this age to receive continuity of care
between nursery and home therefore the nursery staff will ensure your
child’s familiar routine is maintained.
The staff encourage
the babies to freely explore and enjoy their play activities in a
safe, relaxed environment allowing them to develop their confidence,
independence and learning.
A variety of resources, activities
and experiences are on offer for children under 2 in line with the
Pre-Birth to Three Document including: songs, rhymes, music, books,
stories, outdoor play and walks, sand play, water play, painting,
play dough and treasure baskets and heuristic play to encourage
curiosity, sensory play and exploration.
In
our Toddler Room, the Pre-Birth to Three Document is used by our
nursery staff to provide the quality experiences your child needs at
this stage as they begin to assert their independence and
individuality. The nursery staff will support your child through
toilet training and developing independence at meal times in a
secure, loving environment. Examples of activities on offer for your
child at this stage are: painting, gluing, drawing, sand play, water
play, introduction to computers and interactive IT toys, cooking,
baking, planting and growing, play dough, dressing up and role play,
puppets, books, stories, rhymes, music and movement and singing. Your
child will be encouraged to access resources and exercise freedom of
choice about the activities they wish to participate in. Stimulating
conversation, interactive play and learning to socialise, share and
make friends is all part of the day.

In the Pre-school Room your child will have the opportunity to experience a range of activities and experiences which meet all areas of the Curriculum for Excellence. All activities are delivered in a fun, relaxed manner allowing all children to learn through active play. Each child is encouraged to learn at their own pace within their own capabilities.
Doors to the garden give children from the Pre-school Room full access to the all weather play areas so they can enjoy fresh air and exercise on a daily basis. Children are given the opportunity to enjoy ‘free-flow’ play between the gardens and the playroom when they can choose to enjoy activities either indoors or outdoors.
Your
child will have access to a range of activities including : Arts and
crafts, computer and IT resources, construction toys, sand play,
water play, role play, puppets, stories, books, rhymes, music and
movement, musical instruments, baking and cooking, planting and
growing, community visits, Spanish lessons, music lessons and lots
more!
